Today, I would like to thank Barack Obama for being a force behind more youth and minorities Keeping Up! Last night I attended an event hosted by the Howard Alumni Association at Taj Lounge in New York. The event consisted of mingling, drinking, and WATCHING the DEBATE.
As I looked around at a packed lounge of young Black people, I could not help but think how proud I was of Obama. Somehow he has managed to motivate and inspire a group of American people that have been hard for many to touch.
For years people have been trying to encourage minorities and young people to get out and vote. Well, not only are more people registering to vote, but many of them are actually paying attention to the issues.
I cannot imagine this many people have actually ever been really interested in what the Vice Presidents had to say. Well, at least I never paid attention. But for some reason I found myself in a panic last night, because I was afraid to miss even a second of the debate.
The fact that Obama got up the courage to take on, what many deemed in the beginning, an impossible race, is inspiration in it self. Many people argue that no matter who gets president, there are still a certain group of people that control this country. However, Obama still can do a lot, and has already. If he only inspires more people to get up and do something with their lives, than that is enough for me.
So Keeping Up would like to say today we are Keeping Up with the Obama's....move over Huxtables just for a second.
For those of you that were not truly inspired to watch the Vice Presidential debate or simply missed it, there were some really good moments. Hey I think this was better than the Presidential debate. lol SNL is going to have a blast with this one.
Best Moments:
1. Palin giving a shout out to her brother for being a great teacher, when talking about how much she respects school teachers. Then saying that his 3rd grade class gets extra credit tonight.
The moderator in turn says everyone gets extra credit tonight, as she seemed annoyed that Palin went off on that tangent.
2. Biden finally going hard on Palin at the idea of McCain being a maverick, pointing out many times that prove that he is not.
3. Palin saying Maverick 100 times.
4. Palin correcting Biden and saying that the chant is, "Drill Baby Drill", not drill drill drill. (lmao)
5. Palin plays the "mom" card and Joe Biden speaks movingly about being a single father.
6. Palin ignoring one of the questions, and saying that she wanted to address the American people instead. (I did not know you could do that in a debate)
7. Palin winking at the crowd.
8. Palin saying that her and McCain are going to look out for the middle class. (Way to listen to the concern people had with McCain not saying middle class at all during his debate.)
9. Palin attacking Obama/Biden for focusing so much on the past when attacking the Bush Administration.
10. People saying that Palin did well, when the bar was set so low for her in the first place.
I encourage you to go and watch to see what your Vice Presidents actually had to say about the issues.
What was your favorite moment?
How did you feel about the debate all together?
Keep Up!

Considering how Palin has been making no sense lately and has been resembling Miss Teen South Carolina in many ways... she actually did a lot better than many of us expected. However, her voice is not going to cut it for politics, she needs to learn to answer questions, and she needs to know that this is not a Miss Wasilla Pageant, this is a VICE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE. Stop the winking, stop the shoutouts, and stop the rhetoric. I personally dislike her more than I dislike McCain. She is pretty hypocritical. It was gutsy of her to try to talk about education and how she is a friend to parents with special needs--um, then why did she cut funding for special education in her state? That hit home for me because Special Education is my thing. That's the type of law I want to do and I know how hard it is for people in that system. She however, obviously doesn't. I just think that if people vote for that ticket and they get in the House (which they won't, Obama is already the projected winner) then it's going to bite everyone in the butt.
first off, Palin is hood. Did you see her clown Biden and Gwen Ifill?
IFILL: Everybody gets extra credit tonight. We're going to move on to the next question. Governor, you said in July that someone would have to explain to you exactly what it is the vice president does every day. You, senator, said you would not be vice president under any circumstances. Now maybe this was just what was going on at the time. But tell us now, looking forward, what it is you think the vice presidency is worth now.
PALIN: In my comment there, it was a lame attempt at a joke and yours was a lame attempt at a joke, too, I guess, because nobody got it. Of course we know what a vice president does.
Biden did well to be aggresive against Palin. Palin used a ton of charm, winks, smiles, and total blantant disregard to answer a question or two. "Let me address America..."
Hilarious. America makes me nervous, I think Obama/Biden were stronger. But again, America makes me nervous.

It was a low bar so even a kid could hop over it. I can't stand her voice that ish is irritating. Also she kept jumping off topic that sometimes I forgot what the question was and I was watching CNN.
I'm glad she'll fade to the back now. I think she is actually a insult to women. For the first time I see from the outside when someone nominates a puppet in the hopes that since she is a woman that will help. We have been seeing that with Black politicians for years.
It was a hot mess.
I would have respected Palin more and said "she held her own" if she actually answered the questions. I wouldn't agreed with her ideologies, but I would have respected her. The batch aint answer a good chunk of the questions.
EPIC FAIL
Tell her to fall all the way back!
Everyone's giving her a friggin pass saying "she held her own" that's a buncha cow manure. She did terrible! We're just glad it wasn't a tragedy where she looked like a "moose caught in the headlights" on Katie Couric's interviews.
My favorite part of the whole night was when Biden was like, "And that's what I call a road to nowhere." I was cheering like I was at a football game! lol.
I wish that Palin would get a clue! Who shouts out 3rd graders at a debate? Who the heck is Joe "Six Pack"? Chick, this is the VP debate not an acceptance speech at the Country Music Awards! lol.
I felt Gwen should have snapped CaribouBarbie back to reality and kept her more focused and on target with her answers to the questions asked. But I guess Gwen was hobbling on a tight rope....not wanting to come off as showing favor toward the Obama/Biden ticket
i watched football and didnt see it
