Does anyone else find that the campaign took up a large part of their lives for the past year? All of the blogs, television shows, and news stations were filled with conversation about the candidates. People stood on corners everyday after work registering people to vote, passing out fliers, and selling t-shirts/buttons. We donated all of our money to the campaign; it was like we were working just to support Obama. We even changed our social lives and begin to party in the name of Obama. I have never been to so many debate parties, fundraiser events, or result parties in my life. My emails all had subjects that said a message from the Obama campaign and my text messages were filled with made up quotes meant to inspire us to vote. Facebook status should have just been called updates on the elections, and profile pictures were a bunch of Obama faces. Does anyone find that there is nothing to do anymore? lol
I mean of course once Obama gets in office the conversation about politics is going to start up again, but it will be nothing like the past year. The election was our lives!!!!
Watch the movie below and see how they make fun of Obama supporters:

hey socialite! i read ur blog everyday. thanks for the post. you are on top of it..staying invovled in the community is def one of my goals, its so easy to get wrapped up in your career. what is your new job? i wish you the best! maybe you could do a post about work life balance, you seem to do it so well, you work, active in the community and have time to maintain a website.. man thats alot. but when ure passionate about something it shows..
I work as a Marketing Manager at SCORE! Educational Center. It is a company under Kaplan that is a tutoring program from grades K through 10th grade. I do alot of grassroot marketing. Like yesterday I hosted a Spelling BEE for 2nd graders and hosted a movie screeing for the new Disney Movie BOLT. AT these events I get to promote SCORE! It is alot of fun and the kids are great.
I am glad that you Keep UP everyday. It is readers like you that keep me motivated to keep covering things going on in our community. So often I feel tired from work, and I do not want to blog. But I remember that people are reading, and I dont want to leave them with nothing to read. I also think it is important to cover things going on in our community, because we already get so little coverage in mainstream news.
Maybe I will do a post about how to balance between work and personal life. Again thanks for reading! and don't forget to spread the word about the blog.
I've been considering getting more involved in the political process here in Memphis on a local level.
Truthfully, we should be more concerned about our local politics than we do on the federal level.
I can't wait another four years, I gotta keep it moving, so on the local level it will be.
If anything...
I'm just glad that Obama's candidacy, and campaign made alotta brothers and sisters put down the crack pipe.
What can I say...
The brother is inspirational...
and motivational.
Yeah it was amazing how Obama got so many people to concentrate on the elections and not on things that could get them in trouble. I rather have seen a young boy selling Obama shirt, then selling drugs.
I also agree that we need to start concentrating on politics on a local level. That is where a lot of change will come from first.
My agenda includes changing for the better and being the change I want to see because I always try to emphasize that. This will be done via:
*Overlooking negativity and not feeding into it.
*Excelling in school and a work.
*Recycling more...way more
*Taking care of my health
*Loving the God in me, for he/she is WONDERFUL!!
The White House will never be the same. Hey, love the blog.

@ beautifully: I love your list!
@craigjc: I am glad you enjoy Keeping Up! And the White house is def going to be different. I would love to be a fly on a wall in that place, if only for a week. It is going to be an interesting change!
a young lady that visits my blog often put it best. She said it was like he's belonged to us (his supporters) for almost 2 years and now we've got to share him with the rest of the world...
I think a lot of people don't know what to do. Hopefully they will roll into a call for service in their community. I think after Obama gets sworn in he will set the second mission for everyone so just stay tuned there's a lot of work to be done.
4 is great cause most folks a Pay check away from a pink slip
@ Blog Queen: That was a good way to put it! I am so glad that we can now share him with the rest of the world. It would have been a sad day if it ended with just his supporters believing in him, and McCain getting office.
@ Freeman: Yeah I am hoping that everyone starts doing some type of service in their community. But in our community for some reason we wait for a leader to tell us what to do, which is not always a good thing, but the truth nonetheless. So hopefully you are right and Obama tells everyone the next steps.
@Torrance: Yeah so many people need to be taught the concept of saving!
that video is too funny...i literally laughed out loud at work and probably almost got fired...
thanks for the vid!
