...Let Me Put You On Game...

Greetings Gentle Readers, Sartorially Savvy here, and here’s a slight departure from my usual column (fear not though! I’ll be back later this week with something special for you all!!) but, when things I think will help out my very stylish readers comes across my desk, I feel it my duty to put you all on game!!! A special website was recently brought to my attention, and I thought I’d let you all know!!! Holla at http://www.thimbler.com/ Here’s a little bit about the site:

The Thimbler idea started in 2006. It is strongly rooted in our belief that:

1. Clothing should be made to uniquely fit you, not you trying to squeeze into something pre-made

2. You be able to create your own style.

3. You be able to choose and connect with designers from around the worlds.

4. Provide a marketplace for talented independent designers to connect with customers and to compete with big design houses.

5. Absolutely no child-labor and no sweat-shops, and be environmentally conscious.

6. You be able to choose who and where the goods that you buy are made.

In essence, we are about unleashing the design talent in you, and about democratizing and empowering your choice of how and where the goods you buy are made.

Since then, we have analyzed 3D body scans, shapes and sizes of over 10,000 people; have designed style patterns for over 200 body shape variation with infinite size and shape possibilities; and we have developed methods to combine technology with age-old tailoring techniques and processes to custom-design and stitch your garments in real-time. Much more is to come.

Meanwhile, we welcome and appreciate any suggestions and feedback to help us better serve you. Please email us at customers@thimbler.com .

And you all know Sartorially Savvy is ALL about custom made/custom fitting garments!!! Holla at them!!! They’re definitely “Keeping Up…”

Stylishly Yours,
Sartorially Savvy

Mr. Savvy,

Great post! I hear you talk about "custom fit" alot and I think we all know that, that look is much better than pre-made clothes. I usually just get my suits tailored. However, I want to start getting dresses, skirts, etc tailored but I feel like it's too expensive. Could you possible let us know where we could go get our garments tailored that has cheaper prices? I'm in the DC area and would love to take your advice :)

Madame Renaissance Woman,

I'm glad to hear that you are applying the "custom made" doctrine to the areas of your closets where you can! I'm sure it's served you well thus far. I don't know if you saw it in one of my FIRST posts, but, I talked a little bit about this, I'm glad to issue a little reminder wherever necessary!! An EXCELLENT yet economical source of giving that custom look to your non suiting garments is your local dry cleaners!! They usually do small tailoring jobs, taking in, letting out, hemming, lengthening, and the like. More often than not, they can provide that extra edge to give your clothes that custom look, without the custom price. If your cleaners does not offer this service, then look into your local department stores. Most of them have tailoring departments that may be a little more pricey than the cleaners, but also offer a few more services as well. Nordstrom is famous for their tailors, and even Nordstrom Rack has a tailoring department. You can take garments that you've purchased from either store in for alteration, or for an additional fee, garments that you already possess. I hope this helps in your search for the perfect fit!!! We all know a Renaissance Woman needs to look her absolute best!!
