Today, in 1863, Mary "Mollie" Church Terrell, an African-American social activist who was co-founder and first president of the National Association of Colored Women, was born.
The National Association of Colored Women's Clubs, Inc. was organized in 1896 in Washington D.C. at the Nineteenth Street Baptist Church. The organization was and has remained a significant voice to national affairs and contributed to the uplifting of the American way of life.
Keeping Up would like to say Happy Birthday Mollie and thank you for helping to contribute to the services of the National Association of Colored Women.
