Bringing you the morning news...fastest way to Keep Up!
Winnie Mandela and Jennifer HudsonA problem with the FAA system that collects airlines' flight plans caused widespread flight cancellations and delays nationwide Thursday. I hope that this wasn't one of my reader's flights. The FAA made a mistake, but looks like someone else is paying big time for their mistakes. The federal government might have to pay billions of dollars in claims after a judge ruled that the Army Corps of Engineers' failure to properly maintain a navigation channel led to massive flooding in Hurricane Katrina. Looks like people are being punished left and right. President Barack Obama said Thursday that the U.S. and its allies are discussing possible new penalties against Iran for defying international attempts to halt its contested nuclear program.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has introduced his health care reform bill in the Senate, a measure that would expand coverage to nearly all Americans at an estimated cost of $849 billion over 10 years. Let's hope this bill passes, just like I am sure in this next case her fans were hoping the best for her. South African runner Caster Semenya will be allowed to keep the gold medal she won in the women's 800-meters at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin, Germany, after controversy over her gender. Talk about controversy, Jamar Pinkney Sr., shot his 15-year-old son after he admitted having contact with a 3-year-old girl. A relative took the girl to a doctor, and no sexual abuse was found.
As the presidents of Mississippi’s eight public universities gathered for the monthly college board meeting Wednesday, the heads of the three historically black schools expressed unanimous opposition to merging the institutions into one. I guess Jennifer Hudson had no opposition to playing this next role. Hudson will take the lead role in a new biopic of the former South African first lady, Winnie Mandela, and is also expected to sing the theme tune.
