A Philadelphia couple is celebrating 80 years of wedded bliss. 97-year-old Mitchell Atkins and his 103-year-old bride Mattie were married in Jacksonville, Florida in 1930. The couple raised six children after moving to Pennsylvania.
This is what I live for! Black love is such a beautiful thing. Marriage in general is an amazing union between two people. So many people today are not making it pass a few years, let alone 80 years. For two people to make it this long together, it takes love, patience, sacrifice, compromise, and letting God lead the way. When you promise under God that you will stick together through thick and thin...mean it!
An article I was reading stated that they still think kissing each other is magical! This is truly an example of how strong the black community could be if the union between man and wife could stay strong.
