The fastest way to read the morning news...

The death toll in the Haiti quake has topped 200,000 This is indeed a world tragedy and my heart truly goes out to Haiti. If this doesn't make you appreciate your life more...what will?

Nelson Mandela and friends celebrate the 20th anniversary of his release from prison. What an interesting thing to celebrate. We should all take time to celebrate other moments in our life that were significant to us and our purpose in life....other than our birthdays!

Chef Leslie Calhoun was stuck defending her choice to have fried chicken and collard greens on the menu in the NBCU Cafe in celebration of Black History Month after QuestLove, the drummer of the roots, tweeted that he was offended by the menu. Many people on twitter agreed with him, other's thought that it represented black food historically. I agree that is represents black food historically. This was not a time to be offended. Let us not waste our complaints on minor things that make no sense. The chef was black by the way...

That historically all-white club known as the U.S. Senate is likely to lose what little diversity it has after November's elections, as two white men will be competing for Barack Obama's seante seat, and in contests in Florida, Texas and North Carolina, black candidates face daunting challenges to joining the august body, from difficulty raising cash to lack of name recognition to formidable rivals. For some reason it seems like history is truly trying to repeat itself. An all white Senate? Really in 2010?

Naomi Campbell called on the fashion world to do its part for the Haiti relief effort -- and the fashion world answered: There will be a charity catwalk show pairing top models and designers at New York Fashion Week. Cute idea Campbell! I love when people use their talents to help other's in need. God truly gave us our talents to impact the world.

Play Writer, and Movie producer Tyler Perry is dropping a million once again. It was less than 4 months ago when he donated $1 Million to the NAACP. This time around, his charity is directed to Haiti. "I did this realizing that after the next big story comes along, the news media will pack up and leave the people of Haiti to fend for themselves. They always do,” he wrote on his Web site. Tyler Perry also says he hopes to follow his donation with a trip to the island nation. Great Job TP, and I definitely feel you on eventually going to the island to see where and what exactly your donation will be going towards. Honestly I feel like Haiti has received at the least $15 million by now and I'm sure at this point tents could/should be built, porta-potties n showers set up, and babies and kids well fed...I guess its just a matter of coordination and distribution. Still praying for you Haiti, now and years to come. -Lisa B

Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JPMorgan Chase, will receive a $15 million to $20 million 2009 pay package. I am glad us tax payers could help! :)

The unemployment rate has fallen to 9.7 percent from 10 percent in December. Great! But people still are losing jobs and can't find new ones. :(
