Infostellar is reaching for the stars in its bid to provide real-time access to satellite. It wants to connect all spacecraft with ground-based internet. The developer of a cloud-based satellite antenna sharing platform has raised $7.3 million to build its business. Infostellar is like Airbnb for satellite antennas. It operates a platform to connect satellite owners and operators with companies that own and operate antennas.

Now it is launching the Infostellar flagship platform StellarStation, expanding its partnerships with antenna owners, and hiring more staff. The $7.3 million Series A investment is led by Airbus Ventures and backed by WERU Investment, D4V, and Sony Innovation Fund, along with existing investors 500 Startups Japan and FreakOut Holdings.

Connecting satellites and antennas

Dr Lewis Pinault, Managing Investment Partner for Airbus Ventures in Japan, has also joined the Infostellar company board. He said that ground station networks are finding it hard to keep up with satellite data demands. This is despite the fact that these ground station antennas are often standing idle while other people’s satellites are passing overhead. With the StellarStation, everyone wins because it will bring hundreds of antennas to the service of thousands of satellites. That means antenna operators have less idle time and earn more, while satellite operators can gain real-time network-side control.

StellarStation is an easy-to-use sharing platform that evaluates antennas and uses the information to display the most viable antennas for satellites. The user can then book a transmission window, which will begin automatically once the satellite is in range. It is the world’s only cloud-based satellite antenna-sharing platform improving the quality of service from satellite operators.

Staying connected

All of this is good news for satellite users on the ground. Satellites are used by everyone nearly every day in the world of communcations, astronomy, surveillance, and oceonography. Many people use them to make phone calls or watch TV. If you want to be better connected, ask about Gloucester TV aerial installation from a reputable company such as steveunettaerials.co.uk.

If you use GPS to get directions, it is the satellites that are providing the service. Imaging satellites provide data of the entire landmass on Earth, and anyone who has an internet connection can find any location using Google Earth thanks to this satellite innovation.
